OVERFLOWING GRACE

GRADUATION & CONVOCATION 2016

SPEECH DELIVERED BY: ARCHBISHOP AFILAKA AYODELE LAWRENCE

THEME: OVERFLOWING GRACE           1 PETER   1:2

ELECT ACCORDING TO the foreknowledge of God the father, is sanctification of the spirit, for obedient sprinkling of the Blood of Jesus Christ. Grace on you peace be multiplied

Peter confirm this understanding in 2 Pet. 1:2, he says that  explicitly that grace and peace  are giving to come “ in the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ, may grace and peace be multiple to you in the knowledge of god and Jesus our lord”. In other word, not only am I praying for grace and peace to increase, I am writing a letter to give knowledge of god and of Jesus Christ as kindling for the fire of this increase.

Grace is one of the most important subject in the whole of scripture because it is by grace that we are save and it is through grace; through god’s help, that we are able to continue our Christian journey (Eph. 2:8-9)

Reflection on Risk

Reflection on Risk

BY: ARCHBISHOP AFILAKA AYODELE LAWRENCE
RECTOR AND GRAND COMMANDER OF PREACH THE WORD SOLDIERS OF CHRIST SEMINARY INC.
CHAPLAINS FELLOWSHIP OF NIGERIA INC

I don’t know about you, but I tend to be the kind of person whom doesn’t like to be a risk taker. But I was recently reading some insights from Rev. Jeffery R. Funk and had my view point challenged

A “risk” is any actions that express us to the possibility of loss or injury. Will a wise and loving person ever take a risk since taking a risk may endanger others as well as oneself?

It depends. What if the circumstances are such that not taking a risk will result in loss or injury? And what if a successful risk would bring great benefit to many people and its failure would bring harm 1 for us to live and act in ignorance and in uncertainty about the outcome of our actions(James 4:13-15). We do not know about tomorrow. Therefore, risk is woven into the fabric of our finite lives .We can’t avoid it .

PARENTS, CONTROL YOUR TONGUES AND EMOTIONS

PARENTS, CONTROL YOUR TONGUES AND EMOTIONS
By: Dr. (Mrs.) E. O. Afilaka
CFN National Director of Women Affairs

When a person is in perfect control of himself, it certainly yields the fruit of peace. This takes a great discipline at times.

The scripture tells us that “ a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger “ (Proverbs 15: 1 NAS). It also tells us that “a fool’s vexation is known at once, but a prudent man conceals dishonor” (Proverbs 12:16 NAS). If it were impossible to control ourselves, the Bible would not have so much to say about it.

Verbal abuse is just as destructive as physical. As Christians, We are responsible for every word that comes out of our mouth. And we will be judged for every act of unkindness. Daily prayer beseeching God for help will provide the necessary strength needed for control.

Physical Renewal

PHYSICAL RENEWAL
By: Rev. Jeffrey R. Funk (Healthcare Chaplains Ministry Association, U.S.A)

  1. Through Exertion
    a
. Because Ministry can be a sedentary profession, you need to adopt a thirty to sixty minute program of regular (at least three times per week) physical activity- in the form of jogging, walking, bicycling, swimming, tennis, racquetball, basket ball, working out at the local spa anything, as long as you find the exercise interesting (so you will keep at it) and it is strenuous enough to produce deep breathing and liberal perspiration.
    b. Be sure to consult with your physician for his or her recommendation of a safe level of exercise for you – especially if you are forty years old or have any health complication.
